An outing to the Swimming pool....

As a Christmas gift we rented a pool, at a closed resort,
and took the Tumaini kids and the Mana OVC (Orpahans and
Vulnerable Children) swimming.

They loved it...as you can tell by Daniel's smile.

The grounds of the vacant resort were beautiful - flowers, mango trees.....
(Volunteer Katy with Pendo (Janet))

a guava tree (with Amanda and Athuman)

Thank you to Dayton Ohio for donating new bathing suits.
Gerehed's suit is water heavy....

but he is having too much fun to notice.

as is this little guy.

The kids enjoy a picnic lunch western style- peanut butter and jam sandwiches,
a banana and a boiled egg!

Cherie has a cockroach snack...lol

A huge tree in the middle of the resort....we are all praying
- and fund raising- in order to purchase this old resort
(or other suitable land/accommodations with enough space for
the kids to play)

A huge centipede too...

Pendo and Glory both received bathing suits for Christmas from
their sponsors. (thank you)

Gracie in a new outfit.

Tony...always happy!

Francis - a serious student.

Kelvin riding a bike around the house....The kids ride around
and around and around and around the house (one of the reasons I would love for
them to have more space)

Liadi enjoying his baby powder .

Cherie enjoying Liadi.

End of a wonderful day at Tumaini...

Mary's Confirmation on Dec. 26th, 2010

Yes...all of us just got out of the Tumaini truck (about a one hour drive...)

The reception location is being prepared - plastic tarps over the seating area.

Food is prepared...no electricity, running water or even a kitchen.

This is where the reception will be held.

Peter (our driver, electrician, security, etc. ) brings a generator
and equipment for music.

The washroom.

the view.....

Mary getting ready.

She looks beautiful.

We walk up the hill to the church.

A beautiful walk...

through banana trees.

As special guests we are invited for Tea with the pastors... an honour.

The Band arrives and everyone enters the church.

We sit at the front....

The band plays...

There is also a baptism today.

The band falls asleep (it was a 3 and a half hour event).
